Richard E. Hettinger
Richard E.
Hettinger is a Vice President and shareholder of the Firm and a member
of the Firm's Pension Committee. He is Board Certified in Business
Bankruptcy Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and the
American Bankruptcy Board of Certification. Mr. Hettinger has served as
the Estate Administrator to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the
Western District of Texas and as an Assistant Unites States Attorney for
the Western District of Texas. He was admitted to the California bar in
1974, the Texas bar in 1980, and is licensed to practice before the
United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, and Western
Districts of Texas, the Northern and Eastern Districts of California,
and the Courts of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Mr. Hettinger was
educated at California State University at Chico (BA, 1970), and the
University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (JD 1974). He is a
member of the San Antonio Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and
the State Bar of California, and the San Antonio Bankruptcy Bar
Association.
Mr. Hettinger has
represented numerous financial institutions, including a major national
bank, in bankruptcy matters throughout South Central Texas. His
practice has represented creditors in all types of debtor bankruptcy
proceedings in Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13, but has always maintained an
active debtor practice concentrating on Chapter 7 and 11 cases.
He has been successful
in recovering creditors’ collateral from many bankruptcy estates, which
has allowed our creditor clients to recoup maximum value for their
collateral. His expertise also includes assisting debtor and creditor
clients with workouts to avoid bankruptcy through pre-bankruptcy
counseling and planning.
