Paul M. González

Paul M. González is a member of the Firm's
Public Law Section. He has been advising municipalities on public law
issues for more than 10 years. Mr. González joined the firm as Of Counsel
in 2008 after working in-house with a large municipally-owned utility for
six years. Educated at the University of Pennsylvania (B.A. 1989) and St.
Mary's University School of Law (J.D. 1996), Mr. González was admitted to
practice law in Texas in 1996.
Mr. González has advised
various local governments on parliamentary procedure, open meetings and open
records issues, ethics/conflicts issues, as well as on procurement and other
general public law issues. He has significant experience with regulatory
issues, including land use regulation, the exercise of eminent domain, and
legislative compliance matters. Mr. González has advised clients on
high-profile projects and supervised related litigation involving both state
and federal cases, including the coordination of legal advice among aligned
parties and counsel and the review and approval of attorney budgets. He has
testified and submitted comments on draft legislation and proposed agency
rules, briefed and argued matters before the state court of appeals, and has
litigated contested cases before the Public Utility Commission of Texas.
Prior to entering private practice in 1997, Mr. González’ legal experience
includes judicial internships in state and federal courts, a judicial
clerkship with a federal magistrate judge, and work touching upon personal
injury, family law and probate matters.
